8 Tips To Get Outside With Kids in the Winter

It’s tempting to spend the winter hibernating. While we may want to spend the days curled up inside with a mug of hot chocolate, kids need a way to burn off their energy. Winter is a wonderful time to get outside with the family! Check out our tips and tricks to get outside this winter with the kids.

1 – Layer Up

First things first you need to make sure you’re ready for the cold. Dig out those long-johns and grab your sweaters, gloves, and hats. Once you’re all bundled up it’s time to head outside!

2 – Keep It Simple

Playing outside in the winter doesn’t have to be difficult. You can do it right in your own backyard! You can do snow angles, build snow forts, and even jump on a Springfree trampoline. The best part? It’s easy to come inside to warm-up again.

3 – Have A Winter Walk

Keeping it simple, even just taking a walk around the neighbourhood is a great way to get some fresh air. Take It to the next level by finding a new walking path or hiking trail. Don’t forget to bring some snacks and a thermos for a snack break.

4 – Winter Jumping

Even though it’s cold and snowy, you can still jump on a Springfree Trampoline! All the engineering and design that has been put into the development of Springfree means that you can leave it outside and enjoy jumping on it all year long.

5 – Outdoor Skating

Grab the skates and find an outdoor skating rink in your city. This is so much fun to do together as a family. Plus, there’s almost always hot chocolate for afterwards.

6 – Winter Scavenger Hunt

A winter scavenger hunt is fun and easy. And a great way to engage kids to explore their surroundings! Check out this printable scavenger hunt list from Wonder Mom Wannabe.

7 – Tobogganing

A winter classic! Who doesn’t love climbing a hill to come soaring down again? While it’s fun for kids, don’t forget tobogganing can be fun for adults too!

8 – Warm Up Afterwards

A hot chocolate or hot apple cider makes the perfect winter warm up! (Marshmallows make it even better.) Grab a drink, warm up, and then head back outside for even more outdoor fun!
